Langham SK Wedding Photobooth

Small town weddings are pretty quirky in general.  Naomi and Ryan's wedding in Langham SK was really quirky!  I ran a photobooth for the evening and Naomi provided some of her own props.  By the end of the night we got a photo of everybody, or atleast almost everybody! Here are a few from the night:

Regina SK Photoshoot - Sahej

Tonight I did a quick photoshoot for Sahej.  He wanted some professional photos taken to send home to his folks in India.  We met at the TC Douglas Builing in Regina for the photoshoot, I've recently been doing a lot of work there because it's so quiet and laid back.  Here are some quick shots from tonight:

Regina Maternity Photography Tips

One of the most important things in life is to capture memories from times that have passed.  Pregnancy is a beautiful time in a woman's life that deserves to be captured forever with Maternity Photography.  Many photographers in Regina offer this service, including Last Mountain Photography , and it's important that before you book a session that you remember a few tips:
  • Monochrome Looks Best - Generally speaking, and especially for studio-based shoots, monochrome (Black and White or Sepia for instance) photos look best for maternity photographs.  It can be helpful to bring a few different outfits that are monochromatic.  Another idea is to use some fabric to drape over your body, some studios offer this and some do not, just ask.
  • The 3rd Trimester - You want to wait till you have a nice belly before coming in for a maternity photoshoot.  This is usually into your third trimester, but it depends on a lot of things.  Women also tend to show more if it isn't their first child.
  • Have a light Snack Beforehand - It is important to have a light snack before the shoot as it helps to give that extra bit of life and glow to your face/body.
  • Don't worry about Blemishes - While your body will be a big part of the maternity photographs, don't worry about blemishes.  Most any studio will get rid of stretch marks and other blemishes during computer editting of the photographs.
  • Include Daddy - While it seems like you're doing all of the work during the pregnancy, it is very important to include the Daddy in the photos.
  • Include any other children - Your pregnancy is a big deal to your other kids.  They will be getting a new brother or sister afterall!
  • Pick inside or outside and focus on that - Both in-studio or outdoor maternity photographs are common, and both can be very beautiful.  It is important to pick the type that you like, and then focus on that.  The photographs will come out better if you, and your photographer, can focus on being creative for one type of shoot.
  • Get a collage of the shoot - Maternity photoshoots tend to produce many different images.  A collage/collection of pictures on your wall will be make for an amazing decoration.
  • Consider "Baby's first year Photography" -  Once your baby arrives, he/she will change rapidly over the coming year.  It is important to capture this important year forever.  Consider planning a "Baby's First Year Photography" plan with your photographer so that you don't miss anything. This usually entails 3 or 4 photo sessions over the coming year.
So there you have it!  If you want more information regarding maternity photography, baby's first year photography, or family photography, contact me!

Last weekend it was a little chillier than this weekend.  Amy and I went out and got some shots that show some of the chilliness in and around Strasbourg SK.  Early spring anyone????

Groupon Success

As many of you know, I recently launched a groupon ad (see below if you bought one and had questions!).  It was huge success and I've already started hearing from my new groupon friends!  It's going to be great to shoot all of the different kinds of shoots that are lined up.  I've only heard from about 10% of the grouponers so far and already I know that I'll be doing maternity, baby, dog, confirmation, engagement, and family shoots.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Groupon Frequently Asked Questions

First off, I can’t wait to work with you to get some great photographs! I know that there’s a good chance that I’ll be swamped with questions over the next little while so I thought that I’d put together this FAQ to answer as many as I can think of.

Above all else:

Please Contact Last Mountain Photography once you receive your Groupon even if you don’t have a booking date in mind! It is best to just send me an email instead of calling for this purpose as my phone may be jammed on the day of the deal. This will help me to iron out where I stand with the work-load of doing the upcoming Groupon Photoshoots.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What does my session include?

Your Session includes one hour of photography time as well as a meeting afterwards to pick your 11” X 14” and order any extra prints you may want.

2. What sorts of sessions can I book?

You can book family sessions (up to 8 people), maternity sessions, baby sessions, engagement sessions, pet sessions, Christmas card sessions, or really any sort of session that can be done in one hour and at one location. Weddings, and other longer events cannot be used for this promotion.

3. Can I order extra prints and/or a CD of the digital files?

Of course you can! The website, http://www.lastmountainphotography.com/ , has all of the information regarding pricing of additional prints.

4. When can I book my session?

Sessions can be booked weekday afternoons at 3:30pm, and Sundays at 9:00am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, and 3:30pm. Other times can be made available if you have a special request. Please book at least a week in advance. Times may book up fast so be prepared to be a bit flexible!

5. Where will the sessions take place?

The sessions must take place at one location. This can be at the park, at your home, or anywhere in Regina. Extra mileage will be due should the session be outside of the city of Regina. I also have a portable backdrop with black and white material.

6. How long do I have to wait for prints?

After the session, I will edit the photos and then present them to you at a consultation (editing may take up to one week). From that point, the turnaround for prints will be under two weeks.

7. What should I wear to a photo session?

Depending on the type of session, it is best if you wear muted colours that do not have logos or patterns. You do not need to match everyone in the group but complimentary colours that go together work best. It is also advised to look your best, do your hair, shave, apply tasteful makeup, etc.

8. Is this coupon transferrable for other services? (like weddings)

Unfortunately, this is not possible. However, I would certainly like to meet with you to discuss options.

9. Is there any incentive for coming back for another session?

Of course!  If you come back for another session down the road, you'll receive 25% off the normal price.  Also, have a look at our "Baby's First Year" Portrait package at the website

If you have more questions, feel free to email me and call me if it's urgent.

Regina Winter Engagement

I had the cool (pardon the pun!) pleasure of taking engagement photos with Jessica & Shawn this weekend in Regina SK.  It was nice lighting, and warm, but the wet snow was a little annoying.  Two out of three ain't bad! Sometimes the Regina weather can be a bit crazy but I still think that we got a lot of great engagement photos.  We went to the floral conservatory and the TC Douglas Building.  Once that was done, we went out to Wascana Park and finished the Engagement Shoot in the snow.  Here are some pictures from the shoot, check the website for more:

Stay warm Regina!
