Regina Engagement Photography Locations

It seems like fall is the time of year that everyone is getting engagement photography done in Regina Saskatchewan.  There are a lot of good locations for engagement photography in Regina, if you know where to look.  Many of my clients are waiting for the leaves to turn before we go out and do an engagement session.

Here are some great places in Regina for engagement shoots, especially once the leaves start to turn colour:
  • Wascana - There are many nooks and crannies that are off the beaten path.  The park looks really good in late September.
  • Kiwanis Park - This is a favourite but many of the trees are coniferous so the leaves aren't as big of a deal in this park.
  • Along Wascana bike path - There are a lot of places along this extensive bike/walking path.  If you're doing your own engagement photos it could be a fun day of biking around looking for some nice spots.
  • University of Regina - This is a great spot and you'll have the option of some indoor pictures as well.  The Wascana also runs along the border of the campus and there are some really neat pieces of "art" around the campus as well.
  • City of Regina Parks - These are all over, with varying greenery and scenery.
  • Government House - The facility has some really nice garden areas and areas with benchs to sit and take pictures.  Many of the trees here are coniferous though.
  • RCMP Museum - This is a good spot and the grounds outside are well manicured.  This works especially well if someone in the couple is in, or aspiring to be in, the RCMP.
That's just a few, I thought I'd write a quick post about it as a lot of my clients in Regina have engagement photography on their mind!

Megan and Dallas

This weekend I had the honour of photographing Megan and Dallas' Wedding in Elbow Saskatchewan.  It was held at the Marina in Elbow and there was a "Rodeo Social" the next day. (see post below).  It was a lot of fun and it was neat to be out of my usual stomping grounds.  Have a look:

Kornfeld Rodeo Social, Elbow Saskatchewan

After Megan and Dallas got married, they held a Jackpot Rodeo in Elbow Saskatchewan.  I stayed for some of the day and took a few photographs.  Frankly, I'm glad that I was on the outside of the fence...

Charlene and Joe's Regina Wedding

Last weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Charlene and Joe's Wedding here in Regina.  Everything, except some special photos for the couple, took place at St. Mary's Hall in Regina.  Here are some quick pics from the night:

How to book Parks for Weddings in Regina

The parks in Regina, and along the Wascana, are great places for weddings.  Nothing beats an outdoor wedding, unless it rains!  Booking a park in Regina needs to be done well in advance.  The best number to phone is 777-7000, which is the City of Regina main switchboard line.  Once there, just ask about booking a park and they will direct you to the right number.  Any parks along the Wascana must be booked through the Wascana Centre Authority.

For photography, these parks don't need to be booked but certain locations, like the Legislative Building and Floral Conservatory, need to be booked in advance.

I hope this helps couples out there who want to have a great outdoor wedding ceremony in Regina!

Nicole and Brett's Regina Wedding

Nicole and Brett were a great couple to work with and I think it's safe to say that everyone had a lot of fun.  I brought my brother Jason along for the shoot and he helped a lot by getting more pictures and helping out with carrying all my gear.

The wedding was at Holy Family Church in Regina and the Formal Pictures were taken at Casino Regina.  Finally, the reception was held at the Travelodge in Regina.

Doing pictures at Casino Regina was interesting and a lot of fun.  I haven't seen really any other wedding photos online that have been taken there so I thought that we'd "gamble" and give it a shot.

Here's a handful of pictures, more can be found at http://www.lastmountainphotography.com/ :

Regina photo booth ideas

As some of you know, I've recently began offering photo booth rental within the province of Saskatchewan. From the searching I've done, I cannot find any other providers in Regina or Saskatoon, so I thought that I'd write an article about how my photo booth works and what others can do if they'd like to setup their own photo booth.

How mine works:

Studio lighting is setup within a cordoned-off area within the event. Inside this area, a pro level camera and a professional photographer are stationed, ready to take photos of guests. Depending on what clients want, prints can be printed onsite or they can receive a DVD and web gallery of all of the pictures at the end of the event. There is also a "prop box" included that has some wacky props that guests can wear if they choose. Finally, there is a red carpet setup at the entrance. Its a great crowd pleaser activity and its simple for clients too.

Ideas for other people:

First, you need to determine whether you want prints available on site. You also need to determine if you want a manned, or unmanned, booth. If you want a manned booth, its probably best to hire someone as they will have to be running the booth instead of enjoying the event. Other things to consider: make sure to get some props, buy a tripod and a remote if its going to be unmanned, and try to find a neutral background(white or black works well). This should get you started on setting up your photo booth.

If you need more help, or would like to book a photo booth in saskatchewan, contact me!

Sarah and Jordan Engagement Photo Shoot

Last night I went on a photoshoot with Sarah and Jordan. First we took some pictures with their dogs and then we went to Wascana for some more pictures.  On the way we took a pit stop at some train tracks and stopped by Government House.  It was a great night and I look forward to shooting their wedding next year!  Here are some photos:

Kassia and Rion Portrait Session

Today I had the joy of photographing two energetic little kids.  They made me work to get pictures because they were busy having fun, but in the end, I got them!

Here are a few photos:
