Well I'm almost done my work in Chaplin, SK. It was supposed to take six days, it's been three weeks. Nevertheless, the money was nice and I got to see some nice wildlife on the way to and from work. I'm getting excited that wedding season is upon us. I'm all booked up till September with weddings, family get togethers, and trips to the lake. My first wedding is on June 12th, I can't wait!

Chaplin Bridge Revamps
As some of you know, I work as an Engineering Technologist with Ground Engineering. My company is currently working with Graham Construction to do some bridge revamps in Chaplin, SK. My job at the moment is to watch the piling crew and make sure everything is up to code. I took a few pictures, here's one that I think turned out pretty good:

Saltwater Aquarium Photos
I used to have a large saltwater aquarium but I got rid of it due to the pain in the butt that it caused. Recently, I've gotten the bug again and I'm looking to maybe start another, smaller, tank.
To that end, and why I'm posting this in my photography blog, I'm looking for people who would like their aquariums photographed. I know this may sound unusual to people who aren't in the hobby, but a nice salty tank is a point of pride, not to mention the amount of money that has likely been spent on it (in the 1000$s usually).
There would be no cost involved, as long as you're prepared to answer all my saltwater related questions if you invite me into your home!

Top 10 Engagement Photography Tips
Tis the season for engagement photos it seems! I have some engagement photography sessions coming up, and with that I've decided to post my "Top Ten Engagement Photography Tips":

- Sit down and think about what defines you as a couple, use this information to help drive the photography session.
- Feel free to jump in and make your own poses if you think of one midway through a shoot, these will often be the best pictures of the shoot!
- Try two or three different locations, and for that matter, avoid doing "studio shoots". Studio shoots are old fashioned and boring.
- Get your pet involved. If you have a photogenic little critter in your home, make sure to bring him/her along. If anything, it'll make for a few humour photos!
- Don't sweat it if the first few pictures "don't feel right", it often takes up to an hour for a couple to really feel at ease and for the good pictures/poses to really flow.
- Bring along blotting powder to remove any perspiration from foreheads.
- The moment before a kiss is often better picture-wise than the kiss itself.
- Forget that the photographer is even there, just act natural and the pictures will work themselves out.
- Don't wear matching clothes, it's tacky!
- Have fun with it! You only get engaged once after all!

Wedding Photography Locations in Regina
Arguably, the most important pictures at a wedding are the pictures of the bridal party. These pictures are usually taken after the ceremony, and before the reception. Regina is full of great locations for these special photos. Here is a quick list of places to consider:
Wascana Park - the old staple, it has great gardens, trees, and water features. And it's enormous!
Legislative Building - A great place to take pictures, there is great dramatic architecture, and the lighting isn't too bad either. Make sure to clear this location in advance with the front desk.
Regina Floral Conservatory - Sometimes forgotten, this little gem has been a wedding photographers staple, it's particularily good in the winter, when flower gardens are in short supply...
Waterfall Park - this little park is a great place. The waterfall adds drama to the photos and the adjacent playground can make for some great "goofing around" pictures.
Regina's Warehouse District - these can make some EXCELLENT urban settings, your wedding pictures will be unique and powerful.
Well that's all for now, I'll maybe update this post later, but the dog needs out so I best be going!
